My day at the Stitch Me Up Bloghop

Today is my day to share my projects on the Stitch Me Up bloghop.
A big thanks to Madame Samm at www.sewwequilt.com and her great bloghop themes.
Thanks to Debbie from Busy as can Be , Cyndi from Stitch Stitch Stitch and Madame Samm herself for the fun embroidery patterns from which to select.
And a special thanks to our cheerleader, Jane at Janes Quilts and Fabrics.
It's so fun to see all the different projects being made from these embroidery patterns.
When I received my embroidery patterns, I chose to start with the sweet floral design to make a mugrug, a purselet and a quilter's project tote. I finished with a mini wall quilt using the chair design.
This little mugrug is the perfect place to show off my creamer and sugar bowl.

This little purselet is perfect to use with my new quilt project tote.
Thanks to Jennie of Clove & Violet for this goodie Pouch, a Moda Bake Shop project.

My quilt tote is perfect for hauling several projects to sew days with my BFF's. My new container of Precensia embroidery threads fits perfectly in the quilted front pocket.
Thanks to Edyta Sitar for this pattern in the Feb,2010 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting.

I enjoy blue work and this little chair reminds me of the chair where I do my embroidery at night while watching NCIS and the RedSox.

Thanks for visiting my quilt journal/AKA my blog. I enjoyed making these items for my home and quilting. It's always so fun to add a touch of embroidery to a useful item. Scroll down to see my inspiration quilts for this bloghop and a finished quilt top Merry,Merry Snowmen from Bunny Hill.
Don't forget to visit all of today's bloggers.

Stich Me Up Bloghop

*Sew WE Quilt*
Sew We Quilt, a bloghop blog, will run the Stich me up bloghop that features embroidery.
Jane from Jane's fabrics and Quilts http://janesfabrics.blogspot.com/ is our cheerleader
for this bloghop.
She has been so helpful and supportive, even introduced me to Presencia embroidery No 12 pearl cotton.

I think we will all be inspired by the wonderful embroidered projects sewn by many crafty bloggers.
My date is on Wednesday March 27 and I can't wait to share.
Here are the first day's posts.

Block 6

I'm thinking of my Mom and Dad today on their wedding anniversary date. This was always a special day because they had a special marriage. Sixty years together, wow.
Thanks Graphics Fairy for the Vintage greeting.

Here's Block 6. I love the snowmen noses.

Block 4

I found a wonderful stitchery site: Red Brolly in Australia. Nice blog and many free designs. I grabbed her button for easy access.

The gray No 12 pearl cotton made pretty vines.

Waiting for dark gray pearl cotton

I like using the Presencia No.12 pearl cotton so much, I ordered more colors from Jane at Jane's Fabrics and Quilts, http://janesfabrics.blogspot.com/, where you'll can find a link to her Etsy Shop.
I'm waiting for the dark gray I need to finish blocks 4,5 and 7. I bet they'll be at the post office this morning.
Block 4 needs the gray vines around the stars.

Block 5 needs the ski poles.
Watching the snow melt.
Block 7 needs gray for the window panes.

Looking for the perfect spot

Where is the best place to take pictures when it's winter, cloudy and/or spitting snow?

Hanging on the stair rail to the loft?

Next to the French door?

Upstairs on our bedroom armoire?

And the winner is: the farmer's porch post right outside the French door. This view overlooks our lake in NH. I can't wait to take pictures on a sunny day in spring.

I've started embroidering the blocks for Merry, Merry Snowment by Bunny Hill.

I don't always use a hoop or frame, but when I   do, I like to use this square frame.

I used the single strand Prescencia Finca No.12 pearl cotton for the black and orange.
I love it.
My source for this thread is Jane's Fabrics and Quilts.  (http://janesfabrics.blogspot.com/ )

Here's the block ready for quilting when all the blocks are finished. I love the noses.

Tea Time inspiration

Here's the inspiration for some tea time table toppers and mugrugs I 'll be working on this spring. It was a fun way to use some of my stash.

I finished this Holly Holderman pattern last week. I love the colors, the tea cups and the prairie points.

Today I finished the applique on my last 3 blocks  of Merry, Merry, Snowmen by Bunny Hill. I collected the fabric a little at a time last year at my favorite quilt shops, Kathy's Quilt Shop in Sanford,ME and Quilted Threads in Henniker, NH. I started the quilt in February so I'm making good progress. This quilt will be my entry in the 2013 Cocheco Quilt Guild show this October.
Now I can start the embroidery to finish the blocks and assemble the blocks. Can't wait.

I love to embroider and this is a sampler I finished last year. I found a perfect spot for it on the log wall near my TV.
I can't post my newest embroidery yet because the small projects are for a bloghop this month with Sew We Quilt this month called Stitch Me Up. Jane is our cheerleader and she has been sew helpful and encouraging. My date is on Wednesday March 27th, so I'll have some fun pictures to post then. I have one more project, a big quilter's tote to work on for the final project for the blog hop.

Today I'll get Jane's button and then work on my tote.

Trying to make a blog header

I love loons. This is a quilt I finished in 2011 and is hanging over our big screen TV.  I am so lucky to live at a lake. I kayak and love to check on the loons from when they return to the lake in spring to when the last chick leaves before the ice freezes.

I spent way too much time today playing with blogger and trying to choose a layout and template for this new blog.
  • I learned how to add blog buttons. I chose the Graphics Fairy and Sew We Quilt to start.
  • I learned how to edit my blog's header, layout template and background.
Why am I making this blog?
  • I've decided to use this blog as a way to journal the quilts I make. I hope to take pictures of the process and the finished products. That will be a great way to remember the fabrics I chose and the quilting designs I used.
  • I'm trying to get this blog ready for the Stitch Me Up bloghop hosted by Sew We Quilt. I've done some cute embroidery for this bloghop.
  • I want a place to showcase the patterns I am designing from my daughter Kim's art. She has inspired my to design some nice wall quilts using piecing, applique and embroidery.
